Welcome to the website for the Virginia Association of the Student Financial
Aid Administrators (VASFAA). VASFAA is an organization of individuals who
administer financial aid programs or who are otherwise active in a financial
aid-related profession. Our mission is to maintain an organization that
promotes the professional growth and collaboration of our members in order to
serve fairly the needs of students, families, and institutions in matters
related to financial and informational resources that support students'
postsecondary education goals. Our organization is determined to help
students pursue and attain their educational goals.
VASFAA's vision includes the concepts of access and equity. We believe that
every qualified student should be afforded the opportunity to attend the
institution of his/her choice in Virginia, regardless of the student's
economic background. Every student should be confident that sufficient
financial aid is available at public institutions. Private institutions,
trade and technical schools also should be supported through state financial
aid programs. State financial aid programs should reflect the principle of
equity. Individuals from similar economic circumstances should receive
similar benefits and the least advantaged individuals should receive the
greatest benefit from state need-based aid programs.
If you are a student or parent, there is a section of our website with
information for you. Another section is devoted to secondary school guidance
counselors. For Financial Aid Professionals interested in joining VASFAA,
there is another section with membership information. One benefit of
membership in VASFAA is access to the member’s only section, which includes
our current membership roster as well as other special features.
Another benefit of membership is the opportunity for professional training,
growth and networking. VASFAA will be conducting multi-level training
opportunities through out the year at various locations around the state.
The annual training conference will be held April 2009 at the Hotel Roanoke
in Roanoke, Virginia.
Thank you for taking the time to explore our website and your interest in
our Association. VASFAA is a resource that can benefit you. We encourage
your participation and feedback. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to contact me.
