THEN
& NOW: REFLECTIONS ON THE PAST
From the VASFAA
Archives, Winter 1984
(Information has been taken from the Winter 1984 issue of the
VASFAA Newsletter and President Rita Bodie’s 1983-84 Annual
Report to the VASFAA Membership)
As
expressed in her introduction of the VASFAA Annual Report,
President Rita Bodie stated the 1983-84 was a typical
year…”a year full of activity and change”.
What was new? 1)
The Commonwealth of Virginia brought about the CSAP
Program. The
membership was struggling with how the new program worked. 2)
The federal government let the authority to consolidate
loans expire without renewal legislation.
3) The
VASFAA Board recommended to the membership that the association
should be incorporated to protect its members.
Our
Executive Board was:
President………………………………Rita
Bodie, George Mason
Vice President…………………………John McRae,
Roanoke
Secretary………………………………Steve
Stocks, Virginia Wesleyan
Treasurer………………………………Larry Ewing,
Virginia Western
Special Appointee……………………..Eugene Cattie,
