Editor's Embesslishments

by Gary Spoales, VASFAA Voice Editor, Bank of America

Welcome to the second edition of the newsletter for 2002-2003.  You voiced your support for our first issue and the newsletter committee wants to acknowledge that support and thank you for your kind comments.  We hope you enjoy the content of this second issue and again welcome your suggestions for future issues.  Send any comments, suggestions or submissions for publishing to me at: gary.a.spoales@bankofamerica.com or call me at 301-879-8008 with questions.

As with any quality endeavor, I am not alone in the development of this issue.  You can find a list of contributors and committee members near the end of this issue.  If you find it convenient or happen upon the opportunity by chance, please thank them for participating and making this medium work for you.

In this issue, you won’t want to miss reading “A President’s Pause”.  It contains the opening remarks from the Fall VASFAA conference.  As many of you were unable to attend the conference due to budget constraints, this is an opportunity to catch up on some of the flavor of the conference.  In addition, Zita Barree contributed additional conference highlights, which you should find interesting.  There is conference news and information regarding the upcoming Spring VASFAA conference as well as the SASFAA conference, which is only two weeks away.

This issue highlights two VASFAA members who we all know and are running for SASFAA office.  If you are not attending the SASFAA conference, please go to www.sasfaa.org and click on 2003 Elections.  Scroll down to the option for accessing the ABSENTEE BALLOT.  This is your opportunity to support our two VASFAA candidates for SASFAA office.  Guy Gibbs is running for President-Elect.  Marvin Ragland is running for Treasurer.  Each of them has a long history of VASFAA involvement and deserves your support.  Stop whatever you are doing and vote for VASFAA in the SASFAA elections.  If you need motivation, consider this – your inaction is a vote for NCASFAA.  That’s right, if you do nothing, you are supporting candidates from North Carolina for both positions.  Go to www.sasfaa.org right now!  VOTE……..VOTE…….VOTE……...…VOTE!

A Note About Content For Submission:  It is the intent of the newsletter to serve as a means to provide and share information with the membership about the profession and related activities.  Our sponsors will receive recognition in each issue via a list by sponsorship level.  Advertising is intentionally being kept to a minimum to reward our highest-level sponsors with additional exposure in thanks for their financial support.  Their ad may appear in either a graphical form or as an article that describes a service or features their products or new initiatives.  These articles will be noted as advertisements and graphical ads will be placed on separate web pages to make downloading and or viewing the newsletter easier for all levels of computer technology.
