CONFERENCE IN WARM FLORIDA


Jacksonville Florida Welcomes SASFAA

There will be a golf tournament on Saturday, February 22nd beginning at 1pm.

The President's reception will be at the Jacksonville Museum of Science & History. 

The banquet theme will be the Ruby Red Ball for the 40th aniversary; there will be a  dance contest after the banquet.  So put on your dancing shoes and represent your organization.  Also brush up on your songs for Name That Tune.

BINGO is planned for those who want to want to try their luck.  Please bring one prize for the BINGO games. 

Spirit day is planned for Monday, so bring your favorite shirt so you can represent your organization.

The Community Service Project will be finalized soon.  More information about the project will be sent when the details are finalized.

Please mark your calendars to attend the SASFAA conference in Jacksonville, Florida February 23 - 26 with the golf tournament on Saturday, February 22.

Guest Speakers

This year the Conference Committee has invited several guest speakers.  The following speakers will be presenting during the conference. 

Terri Shaw, the new COO for FSA of the Department of Education will be a guest speaker during the conference.

Jeff Baker from the Department of Education will also be at SASFAA again this year.  During the next few weeks session titles and descriptions will be sent by email to the listserve.

Hallerin Hilton Hill is a radio talk show host, TV commentator, motivational speaker and trainer who lives and works in Knoxville, TN.  Hallerine is also a Grammy-nominated songwriter.  His song, Who Would Imagine a King, was recoreded by Whitney Houston for the movie The Preacher's Wife.  Hallerine is a graduate of Oakwood College and is the CEO and founder of Wisdom House, a multimedia company focused on inspiring people around the world to grow in wisdom.  He speaks to thousands of people each year to help inspire, motivate and encourage excellence.  His session will be titled Make'em Say Wow.

Iwana Guess Ridgell, Ph.D. sessions is titled Take This Job and Love It!  Are you beginning to sing the "Monday moanin' blues" when you think about your job?  Are you experiencing job burnout?  This session will challenge you to reevaluate your attitude towards your job, and will review the warning signs of stress overload.  You'll hear suggestions for encouraging enthusiasm and a more positive attitude towards your job.  We'll consider what's necessary for professional success on the job.  Dr. Ridgill is an adjunct faculty member in the Center for Leadership and Employee Development at MTC.  She has presented hundreds of programs for businesses and organizations in the public and private sector.

David S. Schjott, Ed.d. earned his undergraduate degree in Communication Arts and his Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of South Alabama.  He earned a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology at Troy State University and completed his Doctorate Degree in Education at NOVA Southeastern University with a specialization in Adult Education.  He is employed at Okalossa-Walton Community College as a social science instructor with primary teaching duties in sociology, psychology, and human growth and development.

Stanley Frager, Ph.D is an inspiring, motivational, keynote professional speaker.  He hosted station 84 WHAS "Let's Talk" radio show for 10 years.  He is a professor at the University of Louisville.

The conference is also going to continue the Cyber SASFAA.  You will be able to check your email and view the US Department of Education's various software applications and websites.  A representative from the Department of ED will be on hand to provide technical assistance, answer questions, and conduct software/website demonstrations.  Listed below will be the Dates and Times of Operation:
