Kiesha Pope

Candidate's Statement:
I would first like to take this opportunity to thank the Nominations Committee for having the confidence in me to select me as a candidate for Representative-at-Large. It is with great honor and humility that I accept this nomination as it will allow me to give back to an organization that has given so much to me over the years, both professionally and personally.

I am currently the Director of Financial Aid at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, but I have worn many different financial aid hats. I started my career in financial aid as a customer service representative at Virginia Commonwealth University. Within a year, I was promoted to financial aid counselor there. After receiving my Master’s degree, I was promoted to Assistant Director and eventually became an Associate Director before leaving Virginia Commonwealth University for my current position. I strongly believe that my varying positions, and the many different perspectives of the profession they bring, will assist me as Representative-at-Large.

I have been an active member of VASFAA since 1998. Membership in this wonderful organization has afforded me the opportunity to network with colleagues and gain valuable knowledge and insight into the ever-changing landscape of the financial aid profession. During my tenure in VASFAA, I have served on the former Loan Advisory Committee, the Support Staff Training Committee, and am currently serving on the Training Committee.

I welcome the opportunity to serve VASFAA in the capacity of Representative-at-Large. I know that my energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the profession will assist me in this position. I would greatly appreciate your support and will pledge to further the mission of VASFAA.
