NASFAA Election Results Are In

Congratulations are in order for SASFAA members recently elected to NASFAA positions:

National Chair-Elect: Barry Simmons, Virginia Tech
Rep-at-Large (Position 2): Lisa Tumer, James Madison
Rep-at-Large (Position 3): Ron Day, Kennesaw State
SASFAA Rep on the Nominations
and Elections Committee:
Dorenda Adams, Alabama State

I know all of these individuals will represent SASFAA well!

The 45th SASFAA Conference adjourned today in Crystal City, VA, and I am proud to inform you of the following election results.

Erik Melis of George Mason University, our current Past President, was elected SASFAA Vice President for the 2008-09 year. Even though Erik was unable to attend due to his surgery, he sent his greetings. Congratulations and get well wishes to Erik!

Also, Brad Barnett of James Madison University was elected Secretary for a 2-year term starting in 2008-09. Brad served this year as SASFAA's Conference Chair. He and his committee did a marvelous job preparing a great conference. The memories from this conference will remain as outstanding with those who attended.

Guy Gibbs, Northern Virginia Community College, was honored with the SASFAA Service award and honorary lifetime membership. Guy is retiring in early March and his contributions to SASFAA in leadership and volunteerism are exemplary.

Greg Martin from the US Department of Education (for this region) was awarded the SASFAA Distinguished Service Award. (If you could have seen his look of surprise!)

It is terrific coming back after a regional conference and seeing the success that VASFAA members receive in regional and national associations. It all starts with VASFAA and volunteering! Thanks for making VASFAA great!

Here are some pictures of VASFAA at SASFAA………….enjoy!
