Shining The Light On...
VASFAA 2005-2006 Elections Candidate for the Office of Treasurer-Elect
Statement of Candidacy I have been a member of VASFAA for 13 years. During this time, I have served on the Membership and Diversity Committees. For the last 2 ½ years, I have chaired the Diversity Committee. I have presented and facilitated sessions at VASFAA Conferences, as well as at Old Dominion University’s campus for the Secondary School Relations Committee. My membership in VASFAA has been and continues to be a wonderful learning experience. One of the greatest benefits of belonging to VASFAA is the opportunity to meet and learn from colleagues in the various other sectors of Financial Aid. From learning the ‘regs’ to fine-tuning management skills, VASFAA training and support is necessary for every Financial Aid Administrator. I have worked my way up the Financial Aid ranks at Old Dominion University starting as a Graduate Assistant, next becoming the Accountant, and currently the Assistant Director for Federal Programs. Each of these positions required a great deal of fiscal responsibility. Whether it has been reconciling funds, setting up new accounts, working on the operating budget, completing the FISAP or SCHEV reporting, my job responsibilities have always involved keeping the numbers accurate. I would be honored to share my fiscal skills with VASFAA as Treasurer-Elect.
