Conference Checklist

• Packing: Dress for the conference has been changed from business casual to beach casual. So, feel free to wear your tank tops and flip flops!! Please remember that Monday is School Spirit Day, so sport your colors! Also, come prepared to participate in our Teambuilding Event which will be held on the beach (weather permitting) so bring your sneakers and wear comfortable clothing. Show your VASFAA Survivor team spirit by participating! In addition, don’t forget your business cards to drop-off at the vendor booths.
• Travel: Directions and local transportation options are available under the “Travel Information” link on the Conference Mini Site.
• Registration and Conference Packet Pickup: The Conference Registration area will officially open on Sunday, May 7 at 1:00pm.
• Elections: VASFAA officer elections will be held during the conference. Candidate speeches will be conducted during Sunday’s Opening Session. Voting will take place in the Avamere room beginning Monday, May 8 from 8:00am – 5:00pm (closed for General Session) and continue on Tuesday, May 9 from 8:00am – 12:00pm.
• Community Service Project: Help your fellow financial aid professionals and schools who suffered devastation in the face of hurricane Katrina and Rita by contributing and participating in our silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the MASFAA (Mississippi) and AASFAA (Alabama) Associations.
• Opening Session/President’s Reception: Tom DeLuca, Corporate Hypnotist will entertain us at Sunday’s Opening Session which begins at 5:00pm. The President’s Reception will be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Cottage Row/Main Foyer on the second level. Come meet and greet your VASFAA Colleagues.
• Financial Aid Bingo: Bingo will be held on Tuesday from 3:30pm – 5:00pm in the Albemarle Room. In conjunction with our Community Service Project, Bingo cards will be sold at a minimal fee and proceeds will be donated to the MASFAA and AASFAA Associations. Please bring a gift from your school to donate as a Bingo prize.
• Banquet: Will be held on Tuesday, May 9th from 7pm until Midnight. Entertainment provided by The New Love Steel Drum Band and Stephen Bargatze, Magician.
• New Aid Officer’s Pre-Conference Workshop: Will held on Sunday, May 7 from 8am - 4pm. Come and learn the basics. To register, complete the Conference Registration form; checking the box that you are interested in attending the workshop. • Leadership Symposium: Will be held on Sunday, May 7 from 9am - 4pm. The featured Luncheon Speaker will be Zeb Davenport. To register, complete the Conference Registration form; checking the box that you are interested in attending the Symposium. • Survivor VASFAA Teambuilding Event: On Monday, May 8 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm, we are planning a fun teambuilding beach event. So, don’t forget to pack your flip flops and tank tops. You might want to throw a sweatshirt in there too.
