Standard Goal
1: Evaluate existing
by-laws and make recommendations as needed to the Board of Directors to support VASFAA’s
vision and mission. [Strategic Plan 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0]

the committee plans to achieve the stated goal ): Be on the lookout for possible by-law changes
through a review of the by-laws, topics discussed at Board Meetings, and any
other avenue where an issue is brought up that could affect the by-laws of the
association.

Report: There is one
current item to be voted on by the membership at the 2007 Annual Conference in
May. The current Life
Member definition states, “Life - All those deemed by the Board of Directors as
having rendered truly outstanding service to the Association or the
profession.”
A proposed Life
Member definition will be presented for a vote.
The proposed definition will finalized before it is presented to the
membership, but the tentative proposed definition is, “Life - All those deemed
by the Board of Directors as having rendered truly outstanding service to the
Association or the profession. Life
members who are employed as practicing financial aid administrators in post secondary
institutions which are located and conducting business in the

Report: A proposed
Nondiscrimination Policy will be presented for a vote in addition to the Life
Member change mentioned in the 8/14/06 report.

Report: The
electronic voting polls opened on 5/7/07 for the membership to vote on the proposed
Nondiscrimination Policy and change to the Life Member definition mentioned in
the 8/14/06 report. The polls will close
at 11:45a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2007.
