Standard Goal 1:
Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate
the submission of potential eligible candidates for offices to the Board of
Directors. [Strategic Plan 4.1 A (1,3)]
Objective 1 (HOW
the committee plans to achieve the stated goal ): Solicit nominees through the newsletter The VASFAA Voice, sector meetings, the VASFAA List Serve, the
VASFAA web site, and conversations with VASFAA members.
Status
Reports of Objective 1 (Please report your progress toward achieving the stated
goals – this is where the committee provides updates to the Board, including any
suggestions or modifications to the goal and/or the Strategic Plan):
Date:
Report: The committee’s goal is to present the board with
two President-Elect candidates, two Secretary candidates,
two Treasurer-Elect candidates, and four Representative-at-Large candidates
(two vacancies with this position), for a total of 10 candidates. To date, the committee has identified 8
potential candidates, with two confirmed interests in running for office. Shortly after the fall semester begins the
committee members will begin to contact the potential candidates with the
intent of securing confirmations on their desire to run for office.

Report: An article explaining the various VASFAA positions
and the nomination process was sent to the Newsletter Committee for inclusion
in the Fall edition of the VASFAA Voice. E-mails were sent to the VASFAA Listserv in
July and August providing the membership soliciting candidates for the spring
election. The committee continues to
discuss possible candidates and contact VASFAA members to inquire on their
interest in running for office. As of
this report, we have one confirmed candidate for President Elect; two confirmed
candidates for Secretary; one semi-confirmed candidate for Treasurer Elect; two
confirmed candidates for Representative-at-Large with another member expressing
in interest in possibly running for office.
Several members have been contacted and queried about their ability
and/or interest in running for office.

information to report. The electronic
voting polls opened on 5/7/07 for the membership to vote on the approved slate
of candidates. The polls will close at
11:45a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2007.

Report: The deadline presented to the VASFAA membership for
nominating candidates to run for office during the May 2007 VASFAA elections was
1/8/07. A proposed slate of candidates will
be presented to the Executive Board for approval during the 1/31/07 Board
Meeting.
