Welcome
Thanks for visiting our site. Our organization welcomes you and hopes that you find the information contained or linked here valuable to you.
VASFAA is an organization of individuals who administer financial aid or are otherwise active in a financial aid-related profession. Our mission is to maintain an organization that promotes the professional growth and collaboration of our members in order to serve fairly the needs of students, families, and institutions in matters related to financial and informational resources that support students’ postsecondary education goals. Our organization, with 500 committed and dedicated members, is determined to help students pursue and attain their educational goals Financing postsecondary education is not always easy for students and their families, but the members of VASFAA consider the challenge of helping students with this task a privilege!
Part of VASFAA's mission is to maintain a collaborative relationship with legislative bodies, the U.S. Department of Education, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and other interested concerns like the newly formed Virginia College Access Network (VCAN). We also work closely with our other professional financial aid associations such as the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA)--a nine-state region in the southeast, and our National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) headquartered in Washington, DC. We desire that our work with such entities will ensure an effective administration of financial aid programs that provide the necessary resources in as simple a process as possible to those meeting the criteria.
If you are a student or parent, a section of our website is just for you.
Another section is devoted to secondary
school guidance counselors. For those
interested in joining VASFAA, there’s a section with forms for joining;
membership allows access to the members section, which includes our current
membership roster. There are other special features on our web site for our
members in addition to our membership listing.
A major benefit of membership is the opportunity for professional training, growth and networking. VASFAA will conduct a series of multi-level training events in the fall of 2007 at locations to be announced, and the annual training conference will be held in May 2008 at the Marriott City Center Conference Center and Hotel at Oyster Point, Newport News. In addition, other training and networking opportunities are offered to VASFAA members throughout the year.
A ‘suggestion line’ is available for both members and non-members to use to provide suggestions about VASFAA as an organization as well as providing recommendations about the content and use of our web site. Feel free to continue to let us know how we’re doing by sending a message to the suggestion line. Please take some time and explore our web site and learn more about VASFAA. We encourage you to become involved and welcome your suggestions. If VASFAA is a resource that you think can be of benefit to you, we encourage your membership.
Thank you for taking the time to explore our site and your interest in the Association. We depend on your continued support to help us fulfill our mission to the educational community.
